The Season of Waiting

The silence in Elara’s small living room was heavy, not with peace, but with the suffocating weight of questions that had no easy answers. At twenty-eight, she sat curled into the corner of her worn beige sofa, the soft hum of the refrigerator the only sound accompanying her thoughts, a stark contrast to the chaotic, joyous noise her three children made before she tucked them into bed. She was a woman who had spent years sculpting her spirit, listening to sermons on marriage, fasting for clarity, and curating a prayer journal filled with the specific, holy characteristics of the husband she believed God was preparing for her. And yet, the man currently occupying the space in her heart was not the seasoned, protective "Adam" she had envisioned, but Julian - a handsome, tw...

Financial Fluency: My Journey From Chaos to Clarity

Hi guys!

It’s been a while, but I’m back, and I’ve come with something close to my heart.

Today, I want us to explore a topic that has transformed my life: financial literacy, or as I love to call it, financial fluency.

๐Ÿ’ก What Is Financial Fluency?

Let’s start with the basics.

When someone is fluent in a language, they can speak it clearly, confidently, and articulately. The same concept applies to finances.

To be financially fluent means you fully understand how money works, from saving and budgeting, to investing, credit, and wealth-building.

But this brings up a question:
Can an ordinary person like you or me become financially fluent?

Absolutely yes.

๐Ÿšจ My Financial Wake-Up Call

I wasn’t always financially literate. In fact, I was the exact opposite.

  • I was deep in debt.

  • I couldn’t save — let alone invest.

  • I opened multiple investment accounts (money market funds, REITs, fixed deposit accounts) that all went dormant after a few months.

  • Despite having a job, I couldn’t meet my basic responsibilities or bills.

  • I spent everything I earned on things I didn’t need.

For eight years, I lived in this cycle. I was working hard just to buy more liabilities.

๐Ÿงพ What Are These Liabilities?

Let’s break it down. A liability is anything that takes money out of your pocket.

For a 25-year-old single woman, here are some common examples of sneaky liabilities:

  • Constantly upgrading phones and electronics on credit

  • Taking out mobile loans to shop for fashion trends

  • Renting an apartment beyond your means for aesthetics

  • Subscription overload (beauty boxes, streaming, gym you never use)

  • Eating out or ordering in daily instead of meal planning

These things might feel good in the moment, but they slowly drain your ability to save, invest, or even breathe financially.

๐Ÿ™ A Turning Point

I hit rock bottom. I was constantly relying on my parents and siblings to help me handle basic responsibilities — even though I was working full-time.

But here’s what changed everything: I got tired.
Tired of struggling.
Tired of pretending.
Tired of being financially reckless.

I prayed. I cried. And I decided to rewrite my story.

๐ŸŒฑ A New Journey Begins

I started learning everything I could about personal finance. It wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it.

  • I began budgeting and tracking my spending.

  • I studied savings strategies.

  • I learned what real assets were.

  • I started investing the right way.

  • I even became more disciplined with my time, habits, and mindset.

And guess what?
Even my relationship with God grew stronger. And yes — I even became prettier! ๐Ÿ˜„

๐Ÿง  From Learner to Teacher

After seeing how much my life changed, I knew I couldn’t keep this to myself.

So I created my YouTube channel – Financially Fluent – where I share everything I’m learning about personal finance. I break down concepts in simple terms so that anyone — regardless of background — can follow and grow.

But there’s more to life than money...

✨ Growing Spiritually Too

That’s why I also started a second YouTube channel – Better Christian Living – where I help people grow in their faith, understand the Word of God, and live out the fullness of Christ.

Because financial growth is powerful — but spiritual growth is eternal.

๐Ÿ“ For My Blog Family

And for you, my blog readers — I’ve not forgotten you either!

This blog will now be updated weekly with real, raw, and practical lessons from my journey in both faith and finance.

๐Ÿงญ Final Thoughts

Wherever you are in life — just know this: You are not alone.

We’ve all made mistakes.
We’ve all had setbacks.
But the beauty of life is that you can learn, grow, and rise again.

Thanks for reading. Let’s keep growing — together.
Until next time, bye! ๐Ÿ’›
