Life is full of emotions and feelings. Sometimes you're happy, and other times you're sad, but I feel like most times, you're just confused.
Leaving aside the emotional roller coaster, life is amazing. We make mistakes and we learn. Still, we often make those same mistakes again, and we think we've learned, but to our surprise, we actually haven't. Because tell me, why do we still find ourselves in the same problems over and over again? Is it biology, chemistry, or what type of science is it? Is it how we're naturally created? I'd love to know the answer to this question. Be it in our relationships, our finances, our health, our character, whatever it is, if we search deeper, we realize there's a similarity in most things that we choose for ourselves.
This is actually what causes us to have different types of people: the rich, the poor, the intelligent, the ignorant, the wise, the foolish, the calm, and the hot-tempered.
I am a spiritual young woman, which means I believe in the power of God. I believe there are certain forces that control most things about us, including our health, ourselves as people, our finances, our marriages, and our relationships. But as much as we pray to God to change us and help us become the people we desire to be, I believe we also have a role to play.
Here are four roles you can play:
1. Pray and Submit to the Power of God
Something that we perceive as 'small' in our own eyes has so much weight when we decide to put in the necessary 'warfare' through prayers and supplication. You could be shy, hot-tempered, or not so confident. Before you embark on seeking answers and remedies from other places, your first place of comfort is in God.
Go to the Father with that thing you really want to change and ask Him to transform you from the inside. Don't be discouraged when the transformation isn't instant - it can never be instant. In fact, it may even worsen for some time, and then you'll start to see the transformations really taking effect. Remember that gold has to pass through fire to become the shiny, expensive stone that it is. So, when you start praying, God will start pruning the weeds, and the pruning won't be a walk in the park. What you're supposed to do is to not give up, not lose hope, and keep praying and believing. God always has the best for us; we just don't see it immediately, but we have to believe that it's true. So, if it's your finances playing games with you, hand them over to God and believe that He's got the steering wheel firmly. It's your job to have faith no matter what you're currently seeing.
Remember also that we are all spiritual beings, no matter your religion, race, or ethnicity. We all have spirits, so most things happen in the spiritual realm before they manifest in the physical realm.
2. Have a Desire to Transform
Every good or bad thing that happens in the world stems from a place of desire. It is desire that causes us to go for the things we want. A desire for a better life, for respect, for love, or for compassion causes us to climb mountains and go down valleys to get what we want. It is the desire for respect that will cause you to dress well so that you command the room. It is the desire for a good vacation that will cause you to work two jobs. It is the desire for a better position at work that will push you to upgrade your skills.
If you want to become a better person, you must desire it first.
3. Take the Necessary Steps
The necessary steps could be many things. It could be reading a chapter of a book daily, or it could be being genuinely tired of living from paycheck to paycheck and choosing to make better financial decisions, coupling that with proper financial knowledge. The necessary steps could also be deciding to change your circle of friends or deciding to be a better friend. Depending on what you're working on in your life and where you are, the necessary steps can vary from a tiny change to massive decisions.
4. Embrace the Change
I'm still in the process of embracing change. I was once an individual who was very afraid of change. Even something as small as giving away a piece of clothing that had become too small was a challenge, either because a family member gave it to me or because I loved it so much. I know this example is a bit off, but I'm trying to show you where I once was. I'm just now learning to embrace change, new friends, new places, and new adventures. It is always said that change is inevitable, and it's true; change is the one thing you can't run from. The sooner you learn to embrace change, the better.
Because when you start praying, desiring to transform your life for the better, and taking the necessary steps, your life will start to change. If you don't embrace this change, you might be the biggest block to your own blessings. Be ready for change. Some people, if not most, will leave you, and that's okay. You're evolving into a new, beautiful person. Of course, there are many people who won't be able to handle this new you. That's okay; as you pray, ask God to give you new people who will walk with you and help you blossom smoothly, becoming the beautiful butterfly you are.
Bottom line: We should all desire to live a beautiful life, a life that pleases God and serves others. We should desire to live a life full of prosperity and God's blessings. And when we desire and have the right principles in place, it shall come to pass. Enjoy every moment, and even when you feel you're at your lowest, remember that God is always there, whether you feel Him or not.
